Labor Day Weekend
Mammoth Cave National Park & Red River Gorge, KY
Hiking & Camping - White Water Rafting, Via Ferrata, Rappelling, Rock Climbing
Dates / 2 Departure Options:
Thursday, Sep 1 to Monday, Sep 5 - or - Friday, Sep 2 to Monday, Sep 5
Mammoth Cave National Park
Mammoth Cave is the world's longest known cave, with more than 392 miles of interconnected passages—so long that if the second and third longest caves in the world were joined together, Mammoth Cave would still be the planet's longest cave and have more than 100 miles left over!
We
will offer a choice of cave tours, listed below: Some notable features
of the cave, such as Grand Avenue, Frozen Niagara, and Fat Man's Misery,
can be seen on lighted tours ranging from one to six hours in length.
Two tours, lit only by visitor-carried paraffin lamps, are popular
alternatives to the electric-lit routes. Several "wild" tours venture
away from the developed parts of the cave into muddy crawls and dusty
tunnels. The lectures delivered by the National Park Service cave
guides.
Red River Gorge, KY
The Red River Gorge
is a canyon system on the Red River in east-central Kentucky. The 20
square miles (58 km2) Clifty Wilderness Area lies entirely within the
gorge. This intricate canyon system features an abundance of high
sandstone cliffs, rock shelters, waterfalls, and natural bridges. There
are more than 100 natural sandstone arches in the Red River Gorge
Geological Area. The multitude of sandstone and cliff-lines have helped
this area become one of the world's top rock climbing destinations.
Kentucky's Natural Bridge State Park
is immediately adjacent to this area, featuring one of the largest
natural bridges in the Red River Gorge. Because of its unusual and
rugged nature, the Red River Gorge features a remarkable variety of
ecological zones.

Saturday / Sunday: Hiking, Rock Climbing, or Via Ferrata
Via Ferrata Solo (Day Pass $35) or Via Ferrata / Rappelling Combo Package ($70 to $80)
The Via Ferrata
originally started in the Dolomites, Italy as a means to transport
troops across the mountains during World War I. After the war was over
the via ferrata system remained in tact and was later changed into a
recreational activity. You will be able to experience the first via
ferrata system of its kind in the United States. It was designed by an
experienced team from France and has been open since September of 2001.
No prior climbing experience is necessary. One just needs a
spirit for the outdoors and a head for heights! The Course is broken up
into six different sections with a total of four levels of difficulty.
The difficulty ranges from easy to expert. With your day pass, you can
do each section multiple times - all day long! At each section there is
an exit point in which a climber can make their way back to the main
facility. Since a climber can resume where they left off, we encourage
climbers to take necessary breaks, especially before attempting the more
challenging sections. They can be quite the challenge!
Rock Climbing in the Red River Gorge - one of the world's top climbing destinations:
Daniel Boone National Forest/ Natural Bridge State Park/ Pendergrass-Murray Recreational Preserve
In the late 1990s and early 2000s, the potential for development, particularly sport climbing, was discovered in the Southern Region,
where steep, beautiful sandstone walls are overhanging and pocketed and
offer technical, dynamic, and endurance climbing. As word spread and
climbers flocked to the Bald Rock Fork and Coal Bank Hollow areas
The first well known and developed areas The Motherload
lies on private land just outside PMRP. With over 50 routes in
5.11-5.14 range, it is one of the most well known destination for hard
climbing in the region. Other climbing areas in PMRP hostes more than
500 climbs, ranging from 5.4 to 5.14c, with new climbs constantly being
discovered and developed.
Zip Lining - The Canopy Tour has 5 Ziplines anywhere from 330FT.
to 1900 FT. The tour is between 2 -3 Hours. The last 2 lines are Dual
Racing Zips that allow you to race at speeds up you 50 MPH soaring 250Ft
over the Gorge.
